Lead Clinician

I have known that I wanted to be a therapist since I was a young child and I am ecstatic to be working in this field. I am a firm believer in whole health and believe that mental health is just one portion of what it takes to be a healthy functioning human.

I have been a practicing therapist since 2012 and received my MSW degree from The Florida State University in 2009. I am currently enrolled in the DSW(Doctorate o Social Work) program at University of Tennessee-Knoxville and am looking forward to completing the program in Spring 2023. I draw from a variety of theoretical approaches including but not limited to Cognitive Theory/Cognitive Behavior theory, person centered, strengths focused, solution focused with a heavy foundation of Womanisim/Black feminism Theory.

When I’m not being a therapist (or studying for school) you can find me playing The Sims, chilling with my cats or dancing my life away on the stage (pre-Covid Days). I love cartoons especially the ones that you wouldn’t want to show around children and I look forward to working with you.

Gankoya Leaman, LMSW
Therapist

I am a passionate advocate for strengthening and empowering individuals through education and counseling.

I have five years of experience working with children, adolescents and adult women who have endured trauma in their past or current lives.
I have three years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, who have experienced Abuse & Neglect in their past or current lives. I have worked with youth in foster care, to women in domestic violence shelters. My passion is working with African American women who battle with depression, self-esteem, coping mechanisms, boundaries, relationship issues, that stem from trauma or everyday life.

Therapy can be scary & unfamiliar, especially for those who struggle with discussing incidents or moments that have been repressed or avoided. Knowing this, I strive to provide a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental space, for you to process, heal and grow!

Approaches that I use are Cognitive behavioral, Person-centered, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, & Strengths based.

Kevana West
Intern

Kevana S. West is a multimedia artist born and bred right here in Nashville, TN; some of her most beloved hobbies include miniature sculpture, writing songs on the ukulele and playing Monopoly. Kevana, a dance movement therapist in training, believes that art making has the power to heal and describes her theoretical orientation as integrative and eclectic.

Our collective struggle is that we have inherited a world of imbalance and as such, imbalance lives within each of us. Together, we will work to find equilibrium and healing amongst the madness. Within the therapeutic relationship, it is my goal to help clients develop and hone the best version of themselves according to their own vision. Through the integration of movement and the expressive arts, I seek to assist clients in rewriting their narratives in a way that embodies dignity and strength.

I enjoy working with diverse populations and feel honored to hold space for individuals as they embark on their journey toward healing and wholeness. It is my belief that healing is done in community, and that true change can only occur in the space between individuals. In service of this, it is my pleasure to work with clients and their communities, whether it be family, coworkers, or friends.
